Detailed 10 days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1. Arrival and transfer to your hotel
upon arrival, our tour guide will welcome and brief you at the airport before transferring to the hotel. Overnight at Savannah Suites (budget)/ 2 Friends hotel (deluxe)/ Protea hotel (luxury)
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park (3hrs drive)
In the morning, you will be picked from your hotel and drive southwestwards to L. Mburo NP which is a home to more than 68 mammals and over 310 species of birds. Mammals in the park includes Zebras, impala, Topis, Eland, Bush buck, Buffalo, Warthog, Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Reedbuck and Oribi can also be spotted in the open valleys with no lions and elephants which makes it an ideal place for walking safaris with a mini stop at the Kayabwe equator station for photographs. Upon arrival, go for an afternoon boat cruise on L. Mburo anticipating to see some hippos, crocodiles and some water birds like the rare African fin foot, white backed heron, and later return to check in at your lodge. Day 3: Game drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (5-6hrs drive)
In the morning, you will go for a game drive to check out the different wildlife species in this park, after return for breakfast and later check out of the lodge for a transfer to Bwindi a UNESCO world heritage site and a home to the endangered gorillas. You will be able to see the stunning hills covered with mist forest dated back 1500years ago, harboring over 110 mammal and 314birds species. Upon arrival at the park in the afternoon go check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight at Trekkers’ Tavern cottages (budget)/ Bakiga lodge (deluxe)/ Agandi Eco lodge/ Mahogany Springs (luxury)
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking experience and community Visit (Optional)
Wakeup early morning for the drive to the park headquarters at 8:00 am for the briefing about gorilla trekking experience as you will be briefed and later divided in to various groups and there after you enter the forest in search for these gentle giants, this can take from 1-4 hours depending on where you find them, this exercise requires hiking and here you need to physically fit to take part in this mountain gorilla tracking because it involves climbing the steep terrain. Upon meeting them you will be allowed to spend one hour to in front of gorillas, take photos, later have a lunch break as you are waiting for an optional community visit to the nearby village. Learn about community tours conducted by the local of Bwindi park after retire for the day break with dinner and overnight at your lodge as on (Day 3).
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (4hrs drive)
Today wakeup early morning for breakfast and later checkout of the lodge for the drive to Queen Elizabeth National park which one of the most visited park in Uganda and it’s a home to more than 90 mammal species and over 600 birds species, and the park is more famous for the tree climbing lions of Ishasha with elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and antelopes which are seen while on game drive and also the great Kazinga channel for boat cruise. Upon reaching the park go for lunch at Mweya as you a wait for an afternoon launch cruise at Kazinga channel and this might take you up 1hour and 30 minutes as you view other animals drinking water along the banks of the lake after retire for the day break with dinner and overnight at Katara Game lodge /Enganzi lodge (budget/deluxe)
Day 6: Game drive and transfer to Kibale forest National Park: (2-3hrs drive)
Wake up early morning and prepare for the game drive to the park for a catch up with the early morning risers and here you would probably have an exciting lion experience, visit the communities along the park after return to the lodge for breakfast and later checkout of the lodge for the drive to Kibale forest National park which is referred as the world capital for primates, here the park hosts a number of 13primates species, 71mammal species, 372birds. This park has the highest concentration of chimpanzees over 1450 individuals living here making it the best destination to enjoy a Chimpanzee tracking, In addition Kibale is home to the uncommon L’Hoest monkeys, East Africa’s biggest population of the endangered red colobus monkeys, the black & white colobus, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, grey cheeked mangabey, bush babies as well as potto among many others. Upon arrival you will go for a visit to the crater field areas like the Kasenda crater and Mahoma falls after retire for the day break with dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee guest house (budget)/ Turacco Tree tops (deluxe)/ Papaya lake lodge/ Crater Safari lodge (luxury).
Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking experience.
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters at Kanyancu for the brief about chimpanzee tracking experience by an expert ranger from Uganda wildlife authority, you will be assigned in to groups and later start the walk in to the capital of primates as we enjoy the different tree species and birds, as we are looking towards tracking the next cousin to man who shares 99% of the DNA and upon reaching them you will be able to see them playing jumping in trees with the younger ones as you take photos in memory to the chimpanzee tracking experience after return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation or later go for an optional visit to Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Later return back for dinner and overnight as on day 6.
Day 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP
After breakfast, transfer to Murchison Falls National park as you take a spectacular view of Fotportal and Kyenjojo tea plantations with a brief stop for lunch and relaxation in Hoima city. Thereafter proceed to the great Murchison falls National Park which is one of Uganda’s largest National Parks, formally known as Kabalega and later renamed after the Murchison falls. It habitats an number of over 76mamal species and 451 birds species and these include the most sought after birds such the Black headed lapwing, Black billed barbet, long tailed night jar, silver bird, and many more. Day 9: Game drive and Boat cruise
This morning, you will go for an early morning game drive in the northern part of the park to catch a glimpse of some fascinating wildlife species. Your morning game drive may reward you with sights of lions, jackals, leopard if you are lucky and many other mammals including buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, topi, elephants, giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, go for boat cruise up to the bottom of the mighty falls for sightseeing and a chance to see crocodiles, hippos and some bird species. Dinner and overnight (Day 8).
Day 10: Murchison Falls NP to Kampala/ Entebbe for departure.
In the morning, set off to Kampala with en route visit to the top of the falls for sightseeing and proceed to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora, for rhino tracking. Proceed to Entebbe, reaching in the evening, for a drop off at Entebbe airport or hotel depending on your schedule.
